Tones and I puts Fraser Coast centre stage

The Fraser Coast’s reputation as a major events destination continues to grow, with international music star Tones and I announcing she will perform at the Maryborough Showgrounds this month (Sunday 22 February).
Tones and I is one of Australia’s most successful artists, rising to worldwide acclaim with her hit Dance Monkey, which has amassed billions of streams and topped charts across multiple countries.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the announcement highlighted the region’s growing appeal as a central and accessible location for major touring events, drawing audiences from across the Wide Bay, south-east Queensland and beyond.
“To have an artist of Tones and I’s calibre choose to perform at the Maryborough Showgrounds is a huge win for our region,” he said.
“It shows the Fraser Coast is firmly on the radar for major touring events, and that our venues, our community and our location all stack up.”
The announcement follows a strong run of major events, including the Red Hot Summer Tour heading to Seafront Oval in Hervey Bay in April, as well as Sounds of Rock and Summersalt concerts in recent years.
Deputy Mayor Sara Diana Faraj said major events delivered benefits well beyond the event itself.
“These events bring visitors into the region who stay locally, dine locally and support local businesses,” she said.
“They also give locals the chance to enjoy high-quality music and sporting events without having to travel to a capital city.”
Cr Seymour said the Maryborough Showgrounds had already demonstrated its ability to host large-scale events, including the Australian Scout Jamboree in January 2025, which featured a live performance by Amy Shark.
“The Maryborough Showgrounds has the space and infrastructure to accommodate crowds of 10,000 people, making it well suited to major touring acts and large community events,” he said.
Cr Faraj said the growing events calendar, which also includes the Hervey Bay Half Marathon later this year, was helping position the Fraser Coast as a natural meeting point for major events.
“We’re seeing more organisers recognise the Fraser Coast as a place where people are willing to travel to, whether it’s for music, sport or major community gatherings,” she said.
“That’s a positive sign for our economy and for the long-term future of events in our region.”
Tones and I will perform at the Maryborough Showgrounds on Sunday 22 February, with tickets on sale from tomorrow (Wednesday 4 February 2026).
