The Brolga Theatre in Maryborough is kicking off the September school holidays with two award-winning family shows that will transform everyday objects into musical instruments and push circus hoops to extraordinary new heights.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the shows are a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy world-class entertainment during the upcoming school holidays.

“From wheelie bins transformed into drum kits to circus hoops brought to life in dazzling displays of illusion, families can expect plenty of laughs, surprises and audience interaction,’ he said.

“If you’re looking for something different to keep the kids entertained these holidays, these shows are a must-see.”

Cr Seymour said the Box Show by Junkyard Beats is one of the most exciting children’s shows to hit the Brolga this year.

“It follows four quirky characters living in a world made entirely of cardboard boxes and discarded treasures, where wheelie bins become drum sets and even the human body becomes a unique sound machine,” he said.

“Combining drumming, dance, theatre and comedy, this high-energy performance delivers plenty of laughs while also sharing important messages about recycling and sustainability.

“This award-winning show has toured all over the world and is expected to sell out fast.”

The Box Show by Junkyard Beats is on Wednesday 23 September at 10am and 1pm.

Cr Seymour said The Quizzical Mr Jeff is an award-winning circus performer and magician who will also bring his unique style of comedy, illusion and circus skills to the Brolga during the school holidays.

“Known for redefining what’s possible with circus hoops, Mr Jeff will bring 11 hoops to life in stunning patterns and formations in a mesmerising performance that has captivated audiences around the world,” he said.

“Audiences will also be in stitches as he combines jaw-dropping tricks with plenty of laughs, including climbing inside six-foot balloon.”

The Quizzical Mr Jeff will be showing at the Brolga Theatre on Wednesday 2 October, 2pm.
