Where can I fly from Hervey Bay?

How do I get to/from the airport?

What transportation is available from the Airport?

Can I hire a car at the airport?
Yes, however it is advisable to book in advance. The Car Rental desks are only manned during flight arrivals and are located in the arrivals foyer.

How far is the Airport from key locations?

From Hervey Bay: Approximately 10 minutes by car from the Esplanade and 15 minutes from major shopping and commercial areas.
From Maryborough: Approximately 25 minutes by car.

Can I pre-book or pre-pay for a car space?

No, payment is required on exit of the car park.

Where is the disability friendly drop-off and pick-up zone?

30 minutes free parking is available for assisting passengers with mobility issues near the drop-off bays across from the front of the terminal. Disability bays are also located in both the public and secure car parks. Charges apply after 30 minutes.

Are wheelchairs available?

Yes - but must be requested in advance through the airline or travel agent. Wheelchairs can assist passengers from their vehicle to the terminal.

Airport Facilities

Is there a café?

The Café is open for Qantas and Jetstar flights with a licensed bar serving premium drinks from 10am.

Is there free Wi-Fi?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout the Airport.

Are there baby change facilities?

Yes – located in the Ladies Toilet in the Terminal and the Disabled Toilet in the Departure Lounge.

Are there baggage trolleys?

Yes, provided free of charge at the arrivals and departure foyers.

Is there an ATM?

No, ATM facilities are currently not available.

Can I store luggage at the terminal?

No, baggage storage is not available.

Is there a smoking area?

Smoking (including vapes and e-cigarettes) is only permitted where ashtrays are provided in the middle of the concourse.

Smoking is prohibited within the terminal and within 5 meters of entrances.

Can members of the public use the Departure Lounge?

Yes, but you must pass through the security screening point.

Freight and Animals

How do I send or collect freight?

Freight is handled through the airline’s freight process and is managed from the Freight Area at the west end of the terminal.

Can I travel with pets?

Pets must be processed through airline freight services and are not allowed inside the terminal.

Deliver and collect animals via the Freight Area at the west end of the terminal.

Safety and Security

What happens at Security Screening?

All passengers must pass through a screening point including:

  • Body scanner
  • X-ray baggage screening
  • Explosive Trace Detection (ETD)

Are there CCTV cameras at the airport?

Yes - CCTV is used to monitor both landside and airside areas to support safety and operations.

What if I lose something?

Contact Hervey Bay Airport on 0419 671 405 for items lost in the terminal.

For items lost on the plane, please contact your airline.

What happens to unattended items?

Do not leave baggage or personal items unattended.

Suspicious or unattended items will be reported to security.
