Budget accommodation
Budget accommodation refers to a building that provides accommodation to six or more unrelated persons who share access to bathroom and toilet facilities. This includes facilities such as backpacker hostels, boarding houses, and other short-term accommodation premises.
Under relevant Local Laws, Council is responsible for monitoring the standard of operations in budget accommodation premises to ensure the health and safety of occupants. This includes assessing compliance with health, hygiene, and safety standards.
Before establishing or changing the use of a building for budget accommodation, applicant must ensure the proposed use complies with Council’s Planning Scheme.
