Buying and selling property

From 1 August 2025, important changes to property transactions started in Queensland under the Property Law Act 2023The scheme requires that sellers give buyers key information about a property before a contract of sale is signed. The buyer may be able to terminate the contract if the seller does not comply with the scheme.

Steps to comply with the scheme, and the official Seller Disclosure Statement (Form 2) is available on the Queensland Government website - www.qld.gov.au/law/housing-and-neighbours/buying-and-selling-a-property/seller-disclosure-scheme

To help property owners, solicitors and real estate agents complete the form, the list below outlines which agencies are responsible for different information required.

Part 2 – Title Search and Survey Plan

Part 5 – Rates and Services
  • How to obtain: Property owners can request copies of the most recent Rate and Water Notices via Council Customer Service. Call: 1300 79 49 29

Part 6 – Body Corporate Information
  • How to obtain: Property owners can call Council Customer Service for Body Corporate name and postal address. Call: 1300 79 49 29
