Water quality

Stormwater is essentially unpolluted rainwater. Council’s stormwater infrastructure (pipes and drains) is provided for the collection, distribution and disposal of stormwater. 

The Environment Protection (Water) Policy 2009 establishes the framework for setting water quality objectives and environmental values for Queensland Waters.

It is unlawful to discharge a contaminant into waters or a roadside gutter or stormwater drainage system.

The Environment Protection Regulations 2008 - Schedule 9 provides a list of prescribed water contaminants.
