Dog's day out cancelled

The ‘Dog’s Day Out’ event planned for Brendan Hansen Park in Maryborough this weekend has been cancelled.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Director of Strategy, Community and Development Gerard Carlyon said recent heavy rainfall had saturated the park, and more rain was forecast for coming days.

“We have made the difficult decision to cancel the Dog’s Day Out this Sunday,” he said.

“The grounds at Brendan Hansen Park in Maryborough are too wet and waterlogged to be serviced for the event to go ahead safely.

“With further rain forecast, we must prioritise the wellbeing of our stallholders and attendees.

“We understand the disappointment this decision may cause and apologise for the inconvenience.

“Council is exploring alternative dates for a free microchipping event in Maryborough and will keep the community updated once a decision is made.”

The ‘Dog’s Day Out’ events have been running since 2022 to provide a fun day out for families and their furry friends, and to help promote the importance of responsible pet ownership.
