Council is committed to increasing the reuse and recycling of materials and reducing waste to landfill.
Bin it right - know what goes
The A-Z Waste Guide Index (PDF,123kB) provides assistance in knowing what goes where for your waste and recycling.
All new and replacement waste bins are now issued with red lids.
Domestic waste disposal
Weekly general rubbish and fortnightly recycling collections are provided by Council in most areas.
On your collection day, please ensure your bins are placed on the kerb by 6am. Face the lid openings to the road, no more than a metre from the kerb or road edge and at least one metre apart when there is more than one bin.
Large domestic items, commercial, industrial and hazardous waste should not be put in the domestic bins.
These items must be disposed of at an appropriate Council waste disposal facility.
Did you know Council has a loyalty card system for residents who use the Maryborough Waste Facility or Hervey Bay Waste Facility? This measure is to cut down on the amount of green waste going to landfill.
Every time you dump a load of green waste, your loyalty card will be stamped and on your eighth visit, you will be given a CUBIC METRE of mulch, standard grade only (while stocks are available) to take home free.
Loywalty cards available from the gatehouse.
This offer is available for domestic residents only and not commercial operators.
