Honourable Kate Jones MP

Kate Jones is the Minister for State Development, Tourism and Innovation in the Queensland Government. She is committed to driving innovation in Queensland, attracting new investment and encouraging businesses to start up and grow, as well as growing Queensland’s tourism industry.
Kate oversaw the successful delivery of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
She has previously served as Minister for Education, Minister for Environment and Minister for Climate Change and Natural Resource Management in previous Queensland Governments.
When Kate was first sworn in in 2009, she was the youngest ever Queensland Government minister.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Journalism from the Queensland University of Technology and a Masters in Environmental Law from Australian National University.

Russel Howcroft

Through his appearances on ABC1’s hugely successful show, ‘The Gruen Transfer’ Russel has become the very public face of brand marketing and advertising in Australia. In fact according to media mogul, Harold Mitchell, Russel Howcroft has become a brand himself.
Russel currently is Chief Creative Officer and a Partner at PwC Australia. Prior to taking on this role he was Executive General Manager of the TEN Network, one of its most senior executives, and before that Russel was Chief Executive Officer Australia / New Zealand at Young & Rubicam Brands.
In his early 20s, Russel headed to London and spent five years working at Lowe Howard-Spink, one of Britain’s top creative agencies. His major account was Heineken beer, and his work on that account was considered one of Britain’s best ad campaigns of its time.
Russel returned to Melbourne in 1995 and co-founded Leonardi Brandhouse. He spent the next 11 years running his own agencies with various partners, before joining George Patterson Y&R, Australia’s oldest agency brand, in 2006.

Maree Adshead

Maree Adshead is the Queensland Small Business Commissioner. The Commissioner aims to advocate, enable and empower small businesses to help drive economic growth in Queensland.
Maree is an experienced advocate and small business owner having spent 10 years in the legal profession, and as partner of a tier one national law firm. She co-founded and built her own successful software start-up businesses which received multiple awards for excellence in innovation, and has also been instrumental in helping others to build theirs. She became founding CEO of the Open Data Institute (ODI) Australian Network in 2014, which was dedicated to enabling business, industry, academia and government to use public data as a strategic resource.
In 2017 Maree was appointed inaugural Queensland Small Business Champion establishing a trusted interface between business and government, advocating on behalf of the Queensland small business community, as well as triaging and referring disputes. Having achieved great work for Queenslanders as Small Business Champion, Maree now leads the Office of the Queensland Small Business Commissioner.

Leanne Coddington

Leanne is the Chief Executive Officer, Tourism and Events Queensland. She leads the state’s tourism marketing, experience development and major events agency to achieve its vision of ‘inspiring the world to experience the best address on earth’.
Leanne’s broad industry experience includes senior executive roles with the Hyatt Hotel Group in both Canberra and Melbourne, before her return home to Queensland in 1996 to take up the role of Human Resources Manager at Tourism Queensland. The role sparked a love affair with the Queensland tourism industry which has spanned Leanne’s career to the current day, holding roles as Executive Director Strategic Services, Executive Director Human Resources and most recently prior to being appointed CEO, overseeing TEQ’s partnerships with Queensland’s regional tourism organisations and industry as Group Executive Destinations.
Leanne is an Adjunct Professor, UQ Business School, The University of Queensland; a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management; and a graduate with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

James is a KPMG director, specialising in urban economics and regional development.  He is passionate about what differentiates great places across Australia and has most recently been working with Fraser Coast on their demographic forecasts as the first step in their planning scheme review.

Darren Everard

Darren is the Deputy Mayor and Division 7 Councillor for Fraser Coast Regional Council, and is also the Master of Ceremonies for this event.
With a past successful background in small business on the Fraser Coast, Darren has had extensive international business experience in the areas business development, training and marketing in   international markets with some of the world’s leading brands.
Darren has a strong focus on working with business and the community to deliver a whole of community benefit for the region. He’s an active community volunteer who wants the Fraser Coast to be the events capital of regional Queensland.
Darren is looking forward to partnering with the business community to make this happen.
