Green Waste and Mulch
As part of our ongoing commitment to reduce landfill and improve recycling, Fraser Coast Regional Council encourages residents to recycle green waste for free at Council waste facilities.
What is Green Waste?
- Lawn clippings and leaves
- Tree branches, trunks, and stumps
- Mulch, lopped material, dead plants, seeds, and fruit
Free Green Waste Disposal
Residents can drop off up to 4m³ or 1 tonne of clean garden waste for free at any Council waste facility - excluding Aramara Transfer Station.
Please make sure:
- Branches are no longer than 1.2 metres in length
- Diameter does not exceed 40 cm

Don’t Dump Green Waste
Dumping green waste in natural areas may seem harmless, but it can introduce weeds, pests, and plant diseases, harming local ecosystems. Help us protect our environment - use the proper disposal options.

Mulch for Your Garden
Council processes collected green waste into mulch, helping reduce landfill and providing a sustainable gardening option for residents.
Mulch is available for purchase at Nikenbah and Maryborough waste facilities. Please refer to our Mulch Health Warnings for safe use information.

Green waste loyalty cards have been discontinued from 18 July 2023 and are no longer being given out.

Loading of mulch is available at Nikenbah and Maryborough facilities from 7.30am – 5pm daily by Council operations staff.
Under the Queensland load restraint requirements, any load carried on or in your vehicle or trailer must be properly restrained. To view the requirements, visit the Department of Transport and Main Roads website.
No cover - no mulch.

Mulch can be purchased directly from the Maryborough and Hervey Bay waste facilities or from Council Customer Service Centres.
Payment can be made via:
- Cash
- Cheque
- EFTPOS
- Account
- Vouchers
To order via phone call 1300 79 49 29. Payment will be required at the time of ordering via credit card.

Council does not offer mulch delivery.
