Road disruptions and closures

The list of currently known Council or other/event road closures in the region can be found below:

LENNOX STREET, MARYBOROUGH

A full road closure of Lennox Street, Maryborough from the railway line near Woolworths Carpark through to Walker Street will commence from 6.30 p.m. Thursday 11 March 2021 to approx 2.30 a.m. Friday 12 March 2021 (weather permitting).

Traffic will be detoured via the following routes:-

  • North bound traffic – Lennox Street - Kent Street – Ferry Street – Walker Street – Lennox Street
  • South bound traffic – Lennox Street - Walker Street – Ferry Street – Kent Street – Lennox Street
  • West bound traffic – Sussex Street – Adelaide Street – Kent Street – Ferry Street – Sussex Street

Following completion of the asphalting works, traffic loop works and linemarking will follow with an expected full re-opening of Lennox Street to occur on 12 March, 2021 (weather permitting).

BOUNDARY ROAD and ROBERT STREET - SIGNALISATION

Works on the completion of the civil works necessary to enable relocation of the Ergon 11kv assets will commence on 15 February 2021 and be completed by 12 March 2021, weather permitting.

Traffic Guidance Schemes will be put into place whilst the works are completed.  It will be noted that to allow the required excavation works to be completed, Boundary Road will be reduced to one lane with 4 way traffic lights on motion activation in operation.  A traffic controller will be on site between 7.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. to perform manual override of the lighting systems during peak traffic volumes.

ADELAIDE STREET  - REVITALISATION

STAGE 2 -  Due to commence in approximately March 2021 will operate under a different one way traffic flow arrangement, with traffic directed in a north bound direction i.e. one way traffic for traffic travelling from Alice to Ellena Street.  Again all night works will be completed under a full road closure.

WALKER and NETPTUNE STREETS

The works will be undertaken in four stages with traffic in Walker Street flowing in a two way direction along one lane under traffic control.  To limit traffic congestion at the intersection of Walker and Neptune Streets, traffic in Neptune Street will be detoured at times, during the various stages of the works.  Additionally during the completion of stormwater drainage works at the Walker/Yaralla Streets intersection, traffic will also be detoured.

Council apologises for the inconveniences caused relating to this impending temporary road lane and staged road closures and thanks you in anticipation of your understanding and cooperation during the course of this work.

MAIN STREET, CHAPEL ROAD and MAGGS HILL ROAD - INTERSECTION UPGRADE

FULL ROAD CLOSURE - Scheduled - 5am Monday 8th February to 6pm Tuesday 9th February
- Alternative routes will be available during this time.

Temporary lane closures will be put in place during this upgrade. The project commencing on Monday 14 September, 2020 will be completed in four stages with stage one works commencing on the Chapel Road leg of the project.  Whilst the intersection will be open to traffic whilst the works are being undertaken, users can expect delays in each direction leading up to the intersection pending the work schedule being undertaken at the time.  Traffic will be controlled by a mixture of traffic lights and manual traffic controllers.

The works are planned for completion by end of February, 2021.
