Regional Camping and RV Rest Stops

There are number of RV rest stops and camping grounds on the Fraser Coast.

Locations and associated facilities are listed below.

Bauple Drive, Bauple RV Rest Stop (48 hrs max) Self-contained RV's and vans only. Picnic shelter, unformed parking, wet area licence in place, generators permitted. 
Rossendale Park, Bauple RV Rest Stop (48 hrs max) Self-contained RV's and vans only. Shelters, unformed parking, wet area licence in place, generators permitted, camp fires permitted. 
Petrie Park, Tiaro RV Rest Stop (48 hrs max) Self-contained RV's and vans only. Toilets, BBQ and picnic tables. No power, water or dump point.
Tiaro Memorial Park RV Rest Stop (48 hrs max) Self-contained RV's and vans only. Bins, toilets, showers, BBQ area, playground.
Maryborough Showgrounds  Low-cost RV Rest Stop (72 hrs max) Bookings essential. Powered/unpowered sites. Dump point available, water fill point available.
Alan and June Brown Car Park, Maryborough Free RV stop (48 hrs max) Permit required from Visitor Information Centre (388 Kent Street). Self-contained RV's only. Toilet and water available across the road at McDowell car park. 
Maryborough Airport, Airport Drive Low-cost RV site (7 nights max) Self-contained RV's only. Dump point, water, bins, toilets. Book via Doonvilla Football Club - 4122 1134. 
Lake Lenthall Short-stay camping (2 nights max) Bookings essential. BBQs, cold showers and toilets available. No pets, fires, generators, swimming or potable water. Ranger onsite.
Howard RV Stop, Steley Street Free RV stop (20 hrs max) No permit required. Self-contained RV's only. No tents, fires, alcohol or generators. Dogs off-leash park across the road. 
Hervey Bay Information Centre Free RV stop (48 hrs max) Permit required from Visitor Information Centre. Self-contained RV's only. No water, tents, fires or generators. Dogs on leash. Dump point available.

Dump Points

There are three Dump Points across the Fraser Coast for disposal of grey water and sewage waste.

Locations are:

  • Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park, Bruce Highway Maryborough 
  • Maryborough Airport, Saltwater Creek Road, Maryborough
  • Hervey Bay Visitor Information Centre, Maryborough Hervey Bay Road 

RV campers are able to top up water tanks at the Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park - Bruce Highway Maryborough

Illegal Camping

Illegal camping is a significant issue from both an amenity and a compliance perspective. Council local laws prohibit camping in certain areas and impose fines.
