The purpose of the Fraser Coast Inclusive Access Advisory Committee is to provide strategic advice on policy and practice issues to Council with such advice to assist Council in responding to the needs and aspirations of people of all abilities who live, work, study or visit our region.
The Committee will bring together a number of Councillors, key Council staff and people from the community with personal and/or professional experience and commitment to improving equity of access in the Fraser Coast region.
The Committee will advocate for solutions to issues on the life opportunities of people with all abilities; participate in the development of Council’s Disability Action Plan; advice on ‘best practice’ in universal access planning and assist Council to become a leader in delivering infrastructure and services for people of all abilities.
The ability awards are held annually during Disability Action Week designed to recognise individuals, groups and organisations who have contributed to improving the life of people with a disability.
The awards also acknowledge that people with a disability have made substantial achievements and provide ongoing contributions to the Fraser Coast Community.
