Waste to Art

Entries are now open for the 2024 Waste to Art Competition!

This year will feature a new 'outdoor category', allowing for larger, more ambitious artworks that expand beyond the traditional gallery space.

The prize pool has increased to $5,000, thanks to our generous sponsors—Hyne Timber, Cleanaway, Reuse and Recycle Group, and Nugrow!

Entry is free and open to all ages!

Please read the competition flyer to learn more about artwork specifications and terms and conditions of entry.

IMPORTANT: If you are applying for the outdoor category, please make an appointment with Gatakers Artspace to discuss your ideas prior to entering.

Fraser Coast Waste to Art Competition (now in its 7th year) aims to challenge our perception of waste and look more closely at what we are throwing away to see if it can be reused, repurposed, or upcycled rather than ending up in a landfill.

  • Entries open: 5 June, 2024 (World Environment Day)
  • Entries close: 18 October, 2024
  • Exhibition: Gatakers Artspace from 15 November, 2024 to 5 January, 2025.

Let's transform waste into art and celebrate sustainability together!

A maximum of one entry is allowed per person, and five entries per school or organisation.

Entrants must reside within the Wide Bay area. Check the interactive map of the boundaries.
