Otsuki

City profile

Ōtsuki  is a city located in eastern Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan.

As of July 2012, the city has an estimated population of 27,273 and a population density of 97.3 persons per km². The total area is 380.30 km².

Current status

The Hervey Bay - Otsuki Friendship Agreement was established on 17 October 2013 and aims to promote a better understanding and cultural exchange between their members.

The members will perform various acts of interchange and cooperation in eonomics, culture, education, sports, science, tourism and other areas.

A delegation including Mayor Gerard O'Connell, CEO Lisa Desmond, Cr Trevor McDonald and Cr Chris Loft, along with Ed Gibson from the Hervey Bay Boat Club and Lawrie and Joy Beacham from Jeeepart Recyclers met up with members of the Yamanashi Fuji International Association during the Sister City visit to Kasukabe.

The YFIA members travelled from Otsuki to Kasukabe to attend the Friendship Festival and meet up with our delegation.

Visit to the Fraser Coast

In October 2013, seven members of the Yamanashi International Friendship Association visited the Fraser Coast region.

During their visit, the group spent four days enjoying all the Fraser Coast has to offer, including a Heritage Walking Tour around Maryborough, a trip to the Fraser Coast Wildlife Sanctuary, a whale watching trip, a tour on Fraser Island and a visit to the Fraser Coast Discovery Sphere.

During a luncheon with the Councillors, representatives from both cities signed the Friendship Agreement.
