Locally Declared Plants
Council maintains a list of locally declared plant species in Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environment Management) 2011. This list helps guide local environmental management and compliance activities.
Priority Invasive Plants
A list of priority plant species and their associated management strategies for our region, as declared under the Biosecurity Act 2014, is available in Council’s Biosecurity Plan.
Spray Trailer Loans
Council provides no cost support to landholders through advice and the loan of equipment to assist with invasive species management.
Council offers spray trailers for loan to assist landholders in the management and control of invasive plant species on their properties.
Trailers are available subject to availability and conditions of use. Interested landholders are encouraged to submit a request.

Biological Controls
Biological controls offer a natural method of pest management by targeting specific invasive species, reducing the need for chemical treatments. This approach helps maintain ecological balance and lowers the financial burden on property owners.
Salvinia
Council offers biological controls for Salvinia to land holders at no cost.
Salvinia weevils are bred in a purpose-built facility and for anyone wishing to be supplied with the insects please contact Council via the link below:

Water Hyacinth and Water Lettuce
Council has entered into an agreement with Brisbane City Council for the supply of water hyacinth and water lettuce weevils to Fraser Coast residents for the control of these species at no cost.
Brisbane City Council runs the largest biological control breeding facility in Australia. Should you wish to access weevils for your property you can apply directly using the below link or visit the Brisbane City Council website.
