Citizenship
Council is honoured to play a role in ensuring your citizenship ceremony is a special experience for you, your friends and family.
Each year Council conducts a number of citizenship ceremonies – the largest being held on Australia Day, 26 January.
Due to the rapid spread of the Omicron strain of Covid-19, Council is planning to hold a pared-down Citizenship Ceremony at the Brolga on Australia Day (January 26) with only the recipients and no guests.
Council staff are contacting citizenship ceremony participants as quickly as possible to make them aware of the changed circumstances.
All initial enquiries regarding Citizenship can be made to the Department of Home Affairs by phoning 131880 or visiting the Department of Home Affairs website.
Once citizenship has been approved by the Department, and Council has been notified of the approval, a representative from Council will contact you to arrange for you to take the Pledge of Commitment as the final step in becoming an Australian citizen.
