Green Waste and Mulch

As a part of our commitment to improve our waste and recycling services and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, Council encourages residents to recycle their green waste.

Green waste

What is green waste?
Garden and/or green waste includes lawn clippings, mulch, branches and lopped material, tree trunks and stumps, leaves, unwanted and dead plants, seeds and fruits.

Where can I dispose of green waste?
Residents can take up to 4m3 or 1 tonne of clean garden waste for FREE to our waste facilities (excluding Aramara Transfer Station).

Please ensure that branches are no longer than 1.2m in length and 40cm in diameter.

Illegal dumping of green waste
Many of us think that by putting our green waste into a natural area is okay, as it is a natural product.
However dumping of green waste introduces excessive and inappropriate organic matter, weeds and other potential plant disease and pests into our environment.

Mulch

Council turns green waste into mulch, reducing disposal to landfill, which is good for the environment and your garden!

Mulch is available for purchase directly at Council's waste facilities.
