Christmas markets, carols and New Year’s family fun fairs will be staged across the region thanks to grants to community and sporting organisations by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

At its meeting this week, Council approved the grants under the Community Festive Events and Small Township Festive Decorations programs.

“The grants enable clubs and organisations to decorate and stage events for the whole of the community to enjoy during the Christmas and New Year period,” Cr James Hansen said.

“These events help ensure that the Fraser Coast is a caring, sharing and inclusive community.

“Council is delighted to be able to support these community-driven festive events and I hope everyone is able to join in and spend some time with family and friends.”

Cr Hansen said the Small Township Festive Decorations Program was open to eligible organisations on the Fraser Coast in towns with a population of less than 10,000 people.

“The Christmas – New Year period is a wonderful time of year, and we are pleased to be able to help our smaller communities decorate their towns to spread some Christmas cheer,” he said.
