There has been a jump in the number of homes taking part in the 2021 Christmas lights trail, and you can see them all by following the map on Council’s website.

“This year 137 people (up from 99 last year) have put their homes on the map,” Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said.

“It is fantastic to see the trail continuing to grow and more people nominating their light displays.”

Maps can be viewed on Council’s website at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/festive from today (December 1), or clipped from the December 16 issues of the Maryborough Sun and Hervey Bay Advertiser newspapers.

Printed copies will also be available at Council’s Customer Service Centres.

“I really encourage people to go and have a look to appreciate the hard work that has gone into making the displays. They add so much to the Christmas atmosphere,” Cr Seymour said.

“Please stay COVID safe when viewing the displays.

“If you can stay in your car, please do. If you do get out to have a closer look, please remember your social distancing.”

The winner of Christmas Street will be announced on Council’s Facebook page and at the Food n Groove event at Seafront Oval in Pialba on Friday night (3 December 2021).

“This year residents in four streets nominated to win the title of Christmas Street – Kingfisher Drive, Maryborough (2020 winner); Mayne Street, Tiaro; Carmen Close, Granville and Frangipanni Avenue, Kawungan – with the Christmas Street sign to be installed on the winning street,” Cr Seymour said.

“I hope you are able to visit them all.”

Fraser Coast Regional Council has two community Christmas trees with the Maryborough tree in front of City Hall lit on Sunday, November 28, and the Hervey Bay tree at Seafront Oval to be lit from Friday, December 3.
