Fraser Coast residents are being encouraged to unleash their artistic talent in miniature by entering the Fraser Coast Libraries’ Design-a-Bookmark competition.

Cr David Lewis said the contest, which launched today (Monday February 7), was open to all ages and $50 gift cards were up for grabs for the five winners.

“The winning entries will be professionally printed and available for free at Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro, Howard and Burrum Heads library branches,” he said.

“It’s a brilliant opportunity to have your original artwork published in bookmark form and to win a $50 Fraser Coast Gift Card.

“There’s no theme so entrants can create whatever type of artwork they prefer but they must be library members.

“Joining Fraser Coast Libraries is free and it’s free to enter the bookmark competition.”

Cr Lewis said the contest had been divided into four age categories: Six years and under, seven to 11, 12 to 17, and 18 years and older.

“Winners will be judged on originality, design and reproducibility,” he said.

“Along with the four age category winners, an extra wild card winner will be chosen from all of the entries.

“Visit your nearest library branch for an entry form or find it online by visiting the libraries Facebook page or on Council’s website here.

“Everyone has until Saturday, March 19, to submit their entries at their nearest branch.”

Cr Lewis said the winners would be announced in April.
