Showgrounds masterplan

A second covered arena and the development of a recreation node are features included in the Draft Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park Master Plan.

“The draft plan has been developed following extensive consultation with user groups and key stakeholders,” Cr Darren Everard said.

“We are now asking residents to have a look at the plan and give us their feedback on the various options and plans.

“The master plan, which were guided by the recently adopted Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Park Strategic Plan, is part of our focus to activate the facility.

“Our aim is to ensure that it continues to attract large events such as lifestyle expos, caravan and RV rallies and major equestrian events.

“The facility is highly regarded in equestrian circles and our aim is to ensure that it continues to attract large events such as lifestyle expos, caravan and RV rallies and major equestrian events.

“There is great opportunity to attract even more events which would be a great boost for the regional economy.”

“The draft plan includes options to provide a second covered arena that would allow for additional events to be held undercover at the venue.

“The development of the recreation node and buildings near the main entrance would boost facilities for community groups and help activate the facility as a recreation reserve.

“New roads and parking would allow the facility to be sectioned so multiple events could be held at the facility at the same time without affecting each other.

“There are also plans to expand and improve the mountain bike trail network to improve separation between bike riders and horse riders.”
