Equipment to better irrigate athletics fields in Maryborough, solar panels and renovations to dressing rooms and toilets will be funded under grants from the latest round of the Fraser Coast Regional Council 2022-23 Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance Grants.

Under the Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance Grants scheme, community organisations can apply for one-off funding to develop infrastructure that assists in the growth and engagement of sport or active recreation in the Fraser Coast region.

“ Sport and recreation activities are vital to improve the health and wellbeing of the Fraser Coast community and these grants help ensure the long-term sustainability of community sport and active recreation groups,”  Cr Daniel Sanderson said.

“ While sport keeps us physically active, it also keeps us socially connected. It is where lasting memories are made and fond friendships formed. Supporting local sporting groups through this grants program is part of Council’ s plan to build better communities together.”

The applications are considered by a panel of assessors that comprised of a Councillor, Council officers and an external community representative.
