NOTICE OF PUBLIC CONSULTATION (NO. 3) 2023 

Proposed Making of Local Law 

1.    Fraser Coast Regional Council ("Council") has proposed to make Waste Management (Amendment) Local Law (No. 1) 2023 (the "amending local law").
2.    The proposed amending local law amends Local Law No. 7 (Waste Management) 2018.

Purpose and General Effect 

3.    The proposed amending local law seeks to:
•    prevent the disposing of previously omitted material such as radioactive waste in bins or other rubbish facilities;
•    clarify the onus of providing appropriate waste containers in serviced premises;
•    add firmer guidelines for behaviour relating to general waste storage, disposal and providing information;
•    create a new offence of leaving a waste container on the kerb for more than 24hrs before or after scheduled collection; and
•    update relevant State legislative references and address minor typographical errors.

Consultation Period 

4.    Written submissions by any person in support of, or objecting to, the amending local law are invited commencing on 8 February 2023 and ending on 2 March 2023 (the "consultation period").
5.    During the consultation period Council will make copies of the proposed law available for inspection and purchase at Council's public offices at 77 Tavistock Street, Torquay or 211-213 Adelaide Street, Maryborough. Alternatively, copies of documentation are available free of charge from Council's website www.frasercoast.gld.gov.au.
6.    Written submissions must be received on or before 2 March 2023 stating-
•    the grounds of the submission; and
•    the facts and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds.
7.    A submission may be made via email at community@frasercoast.gld.gov.au or through Council's online Engagement Hub at www.frasercoast.engagementhub.com.au
8.    Please note that only properly made submissions will be considered. A submission is properly made to the extent that the submission relates only to the proposed amendment. A submission must be made in writing. No acknowledgement will be issued on receipt of submissions.
