Fraser Coast residents are invited to cast their vote in this year’s Design-a-Bookmark People’s Choice Award, with a record 297 entries submitted for the popular competition.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said it was exciting to see so many residents get involved in the annual competition, which encourages people of all ages to unleash their creativity by designing their own bookmark.

“This year we received 297 entries, up by 40 from 2024, which is a fantastic result,” he said.

“It’s wonderful to see the competition growing in popularity, with the biggest increase coming from the 60 and over category which increased by 40%.

“Voting for the People’s Choice Award is now open, and residents can view all entries either online or at their nearest Fraser Coast library branch before casting their vote.

“I’d encourage everyone to take the time to enjoy the amazing work from our talented community members and to make their choice,” Cr Seymour said.

Voting is open online via Council’s Engagement Hub or in person at any Fraser Coast library branch.

In-person voting closes on Saturday 10 May, while online voting remains open until 11.55pm on Sunday 11 May at https://frasercoast.engagementhub.com.au/design-a-bookmark-competition-2025.

Cr Seymour said the five age-category winners will be selected by a judging panel with all winning bookmarks – including the People’s Choice Award winner – professionally printed and available for free at Fraser Coast libraries.

“Entrants have done a magnificent job with their imaginative designs, and we’re thrilled to celebrate their creativity by displaying all their artwork.

“Winners will also each receive a $50 gift voucher and will be formally recognised at a special ceremony in the next few months”.
