$1.2m road upgrades to deliver safer, smoother journeys
Roads in Maryborough, Yerra and Dundowran will be made safer and smoother as part of a $1.2 million Fraser Coast Regional Council asphalt resurfacing project getting underway this month.
Transport and Roads spokesperson Cr Phil Truscott said the works were identified through Council’s regular road inspections, which flagged areas showing signs of wear and tear.
“Asphalt resurfacing involves removing worn sections of road and laying a new surface across the full width, which improves safety and helps the road last longer,” he said.
“These resurfacing works will make a real difference for drivers, improving safety and comfort while also protecting the road base underneath.”
The project includes resurfacing works at:
- Maryborough – Sydney Street, Woongool Road, and the cul-de-sacs in Magnolia Court, Parkview Court and Wattle Court
- Yerra – Yerra Road at the Jacobsens Road intersection
- Dundowran – Hennessy Drive from Ansons Road to Panorama Drive
Works start this week and are expected to be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting.
“Traffic management will be in place during the works, and we thank the community for their patience while we carry out these important upgrades,” Cr Truscott said.
“This project is part of Council’s commitment to effectively manage and maintain our assets throughout the Fraser Coast.”
