Historic Bond Store opens its doors to Ghost Hunters
Fraser Coast residents are invited to explore the haunted past of one of Queensland’s oldest buildings, with new Ghost Hunting adventure starting at Maryborough’s historic Bond Store next week.
Fraser Coast Councillor Sara Faraj said the immersive experience gives participants the unique opportunity to become real-life paranormal investigators inside the heritage-listed Bond Store.
“The first session kicks off on Friday, 30 May, with sessions running fortnightly until Friday, 19 September 2025,” she said.
“Equipped with tools such as EMF meters, infrared thermometers, dowsing rods, and spirit boxes, participants will explore the Bond Store, seeking to uncover the mysteries that lie within.
“We first introduced these sessions during Youth Week, and they sold out almost immediately,” Cr Faraj said. “Due to the overwhelming interest, we’re now giving both residents and visitors the chance to experience the thrill of ghost hunting for themselves.
“A highlight of the evening is the opportunity to engage in the Estes Method—a sensory deprivation technique involving noise-cancelling headphones and a blackout mask—to potentially receive messages from beyond.
“Attendees are encouraged to snap photos in hopes of capturing orbs or other unexplained phenomena, all while a professional storyteller shares eerie tales and historic accounts of the Bond Store to heighten the spine-chilling atmosphere.
Cr Faraj said the sessions are recommended for ages 15+ and tickets cost $15 per person.
“Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, Ghost Hunting 101 promises an unforgettable journey into the unknown.”
