Art lovers of all ages are invited to get creative this July, with a series of engaging workshops and activities being delivered as part of Regional Spotlight 2025 at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

The program features six talented artists from across the Fraser Coast - Jacob Bunt, Val McGrath, Lou Millen, Colin Reaney, Suzanne Roberts, and Karen Stanton - whose works span painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Arts Spokesperson Cr Michelle Govers said the workshops offered a rare chance for locals to learn directly from exhibiting artists and explore their own creativity in a supportive, hands-on environment.

“These workshops are a fantastic way to connect with the region’s artistic talent and be inspired by the creative process,” Cr Govers said.

“Whether you’re a complete beginner or a practicing artist, there’s something for everyone – from kids’ sessions to life drawing and reading discussions.

“In addition to the interactive workshops, Regional Spotlight 2025 supports artists at any stage in their careers with professional development opportunities, mentorship and the chance to exhibit at Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.

Cr Govers said the exhibition is open now and runs until August 3, showcasing personal and powerful reflections on home, memory, and the natural and built world.

“The Regional Spotlight exhibition is a testament to the incredible talent present in the Wide-Bay Burnett region and is a remarkable opportunity for these artists to showcase their creativity,” she said.

“Through painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media, these local artists present unique perspectives on the world around them by capturing reflections on the natural and built world, displaying ideas of home, memory and belonging.

“Fraser Coast Regional Council is thrilled to be delivering such an inspiring and diverse lineup of workshops throughout July, offering the community a unique opportunity to get involved in the arts and connect directly with the Regional Spotlight artists.”
