Artists Compete for $7,000 in 41st Annual Exhibition
Art lovers are invited to experience one of the Fraser Coast’s longest-running creative traditions as the Hervey Bay Art Society presents its 41st Annual Competitive Art Exhibition (ACAE) at Gatakers Artspace.
Running from 2 August to 14 September, the exhibition will feature 160 artworks showcasing a diverse mix of styles and mediums - from vibrant acrylics and delicate watercolours to intricate drawings.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the Hervey Bay Art Society’s annual exhibition had become a much-anticipated fixture on the region’s arts calendar.
“Since it began in 1983, this competition has grown into one of the largest community art exhibition in the region, offering a platform for artists of all skill levels to share their work with the community,” he said.
“This year, entries have come from local artists, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay, with artists competing across six categories for a share in over $7,000 in prize money.
“With new entries every year, the exhibition is always evolving with fresh and inspiring artworks.
“Council is proud to support this exhibition, which showcases the incredible talent within our own community.
Cr Seymour said the official exhibition opening and awards presentation will be held at midday on Saturday 2 August, giving visitors the chance to meet the artists and view the winning works.
“Gatakers Artspace is open Tuesday – Friday 9.30am to 3.30pm and weekends 9.30am to 2pm. Entry to the exhibition is free,” he said.
“Whether you’re an artist, collector or simply curious, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy a broad showcase of artistic talent in one place and support the creative community.” For more information, visit: https://gatakers.ourfrasercoast.com.au/events/event/1875/41st-annual-competitive-art-exhibition-hervey-bay-art-society
