Maryborough’s popular SplashSide water play park will take a short winter break this August to allow for its yearly deep clean and maintenance.

The free facility, located within Anzac Park, will be closed from Monday 4 August to Sunday 24 August. It is expected to reopen on Monday 25 August.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Parks and Playgrounds spokesperson Cr Daniel Sanderson said the temporary closure was important to ensure SplashSide remained safe, fun and in top condition for the warmer months ahead.

“SplashSide is one of our most loved family spaces, and like any well-used facility, it needs a bit of care and attention to keep everything working properly,” he said.

“While it’s closed, we’ll be giving the whole area a deep clean, servicing the pumps and filters, checking the water treatment systems, and pressure cleaning the play equipment and footpaths.

“We’re also using this time to replace the filtering material inside the water treatment system - a bit like changing the filter in a household water jug, but on a much larger scale.

“Thanks to everyone for their patience while we complete these behind-the-scenes jobs during this short closure.”
