Get Ready to Groove
The Fraser Coast’s favourite twilight event, Food n Groove Fridays, returns this October as part of the Get Ready Queensland initiative.
Two exciting nights are locked in - Hervey Bay’s City Park on Friday, 17 October and Maryborough’s Brolga Theatre Riverstage on Friday, 24 October - each running from 4pm to 9pm.
‘Get Ready’ is a State Government initiative designed to help Queenslanders prepare for summer and extreme weather events. Attendees can meet emergency crews, explore emergency vehicles and equipment up close, and learn simple, practical tips to stay safe this storm season. All of this will be set against a lively backdrop of live entertainment, delicious food, and market stalls.
Hervey Bay Get Ready Line-up (City Park, 17 October)
- 4.00pm – Doug Edwards
- 5.15pm – Smooth Velvet
- 7.15pm – Late Lacy
Maryborough Get Ready Line-up (Brolga Theatre Riverstage, 24 October)
- 4.00pm – Emma Newman

The Maryborough event will also feature demonstrations and displays from local emergency and support services including Queensland Police, Queensland Fire and Rescue, Rural Fire Service Queensland, SES, and Ergon Energy.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said October marks Get Ready Month, reminding residents that a little preparation goes a long way.
“The steps to get ready are simple: know your risk, make a household plan, and pack an emergency kit. A few minutes today can save a lot of stress later,” he said.
“‘Get Ready Food n Groove’ is always a fantastic night out. It’s about community – good food, great music and practical tips. Come along, meet the emergency services crews, check out the vehicles, and pick up some ideas on how to keep your family safe this storm season.”
Food n Groove Fridays offers visitors and locals the perfect way to end the week – great food, live entertainment, unique market stalls, and plenty of room to relax under the stars.
