Fraser Coast residents can meet two of Australia’s best-known storytellers when Judy Nunn and Fiona McArthur visit the region next month for a series of author talks.

Fraser Coast Regional Council Libraries spokesperson Cr Michelle Govers said the events were a wonderful opportunity for local readers and writers to hear from two acclaimed Australian authors.

“Author talks like these allow readers to connect directly with the people behind the stories they love,” she said.

“We’re delighted to welcome Judy Nunn and Fiona McArthur to the Fraser Coast and encourage local residents to come along, be inspired and celebrate Australian storytelling.”

Australian literary icon Judy Nunn AM will visit Hervey Bay to share insights into her latest novel Pilbara – a sweeping tale of loyalty and survival that spans Yorkshire, Western Australia and French Polynesia.

With more than 20 novels published over 30 years and more than a million copies sold in Australia alone, Judy is known for her authentic depictions of people and places that have shaped the nation.

The Author Talk with Judy Nunn is at UniSC Fraser Coast, 161 – 179 Old Maryborough Road, Pialba on Wednesday 5 November from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Rural romance favourite Fiona McArthur will take part in author talks in both Maryborough and Hervey Bay to celebrate the release of her latest novel The Lightning Ridge Ladies.

Set in the opal-mining town of Lightning Ridge, the story blends romance and mystery while drawing on Fiona’s experiences as a rural midwife. Her novels are known for their warmth, humour and strong female characters set against the backdrop of the Australian landscape.

The two Fiona McArthur Author Talks will be held on Saturday 15 November, at the Maryborough Library from 10am to 11.30am and the Hervey Bay Library from 1pm to 2.30pm.

All the events are free, but bookings are required. Attendees under 12 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
