Aquatic centres extend weekend hours

Fraser Coast Regional Council will extend weekend opening hours at the Hervey Bay and Maryborough Aquatic Centres from this Saturday (1 November).
Mayor George Seymour said the change is possible thanks to the successful recruitment of additional qualified lifeguards and follows recent upgrades at the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre.
“We’ve strengthened our lifeguard team, which means we can safely open longer on weekends,” Cr Seymour said.
“With the Hervey Bay lagoon pool now reopened - complete with an activity tower and interactive splash pad - these hours make it easier for families, clubs and visitors to plan time in the water and stay active.
“The new seasonal schedules provide equity of access across our facilities and better match how people actually use the pools. This approach maintains strong supervision and keeps services reliable all year.”
