Australia Day Awards recipients

Don’t miss your chance to recognise someone who makes a real difference in our community, with nominations for the 2026 Fraser Coast Australia Day Awards closing in a month.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the awards were a great opportunity to celebrate the people and groups who make the region special.

“The Fraser Coast Australia Day Awards honour local citizens and organisations who are creating positive change and achieving great things across our community,” he said.

“Last year’s winners were recognised for their leadership in reconciliation, inspiration of younger generations, promotion of the Fraser Coast, and excellence in sport and community fundraising.

“There’s still time to nominate someone deserving – whether it’s a quiet achiever, a local hero or a community group making a difference.”

The 2026 Fraser Coast Australia Day Award categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year (26 years and over)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (under 26 years)
  • Sport and Wellbeing Award (all ages)
  • Arts and Culture Award (all ages)
  • Community Group or Organisation of the Year

“Nominating someone is a wonderful way to say thank you to those who make a difference or to celebrate a star in their field,” said Cr Seymour.

A recognition ceremony for nominees will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, followed by the Australia Day Awards presentation at the Brolga Theatre on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Nominations can be submitted online via www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/australia-day and must be completed by Friday, December 5, 2025.
