Polson Cemetery blends natural beauty with deep historical and cultural meaning.
Polson Cemetery
Hervey Bay's Polson Cemetery offers traditional lawn beam burial plots as well as a variety of memorial options for ashes interments, including columbarium walls and landscaped garden niches.
Lawn Graves
Graves arranged in rows with a plaque installed at the head, typically set on a concrete base and must be installed level with the ground. Plaques are usually made of granite, marble, or bronze. Families may choose to organise a plaque privately or with Council assistance. Conditions apply for installation approval.
Lawn Beams
Similar to lawn graves but feature a headstone made of granite, marble or bronze, placed on a prefabricated beam. A sloped desk-style plinth is permitted however conditions apply. Families usually engage a private stonemason for supply and installation.
Monumental Graves
These plots allow for the construction of a custom monument that spans the entire grave. A stonemason designs and installs the memorial in consultation with the family. Monumental graves provide space for more elaborate structures and inscriptions.
Burial Vaults
Vaults are precast concrete-lined graves with a concrete base, walls, and lid. The vault is sealed after burial and may be finished with a monument. These are often chosen for cultural, religious, or personal reasons.
