800 hot rods, classic cars to visit Fraser Coast at Easter
16 April, 2019
Fraser Coast car fans will have a chance to see more than 800 Hot Rods and Classic Cars dazzling with chrome and glitter in the one location this Easter weekend.
The Maryborough Showgrounds and Equestrian Centre will host the Australian Street Rod Federation’s first national event to be held in Queensland outside of the south-east corner.
Acting Mayor Darren Everard said Fraser Coast Regional Council was committed to encouraging organisers of national and international events to use its facilities that are among Australia’s best.
“We welcome the Australian Street Rod Federation (ASRF) Nationals to our region and thank organisers for choosing our showgrounds on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April,” Cr Everard said.
“A large number of car enthusiasts from throughout Australia will be given wonderful memories of their event as well as the local cultural, historical or natural attractions they might visit while here.
“Events such as this provide great economic boosts to our region and the flow-on effects, if participants later return for holidays or to live here, are immeasurable.
“I’d encourage the local community, in particular local businesses, to make the most of this event and to make our visitors feel welcome while there are here.”
ASRF 2019 Nationals Chairman Ross Miller said the organising committee sincerely thanked Council for its support in bringing this event to fruition.
“Without a proactive Council such as this, events of this calibre would not be held in regional Queensland,” Mr Miller said.
“This event only comes to Queensland once every six years so make sure you have it on your ‘to do’ list over the Easter break. You may never get another chance.”
The Nationals is a closed event for entrants only leading up to the public days.
On the public days – Saturday and Sunday – along with the Show and Shine there will be indoor and outdoor trade and novelty stalls, driving events, mini rods, rocker cover racing, Shannon’s Big Rig, Ladies Pin-up Competition, and a wide array of food and beverages on sale.
There will also be enough entertainment for the whole family. Gates open at 9am and close at 4pm.
