Description

At 47.76 hectares, Pir’ri Conservation Reserve contains an interesting mix of vegetation, including remnant rainforest, eucalypt forest and high-value regrowth.

In 2007 and 2010 Fraser Coast Regional Council used Environmental Levy funds to purchase the three separate lots of land, of which the reserve consists, to ensure the area’s significant environmental features would be preserved for the future enjoyment of residents and visitors. In 2015 the reserve, in its entirety, was officially named Pir’ri, which translates to ‘mangrove’ in Butchulla language, in reference to the reserve’s significant location and cultural values.

Pir'ri Reserve is located on River Heads Road, River Heads.
