Wendy Matthews

Australian music legend Wendy Matthews, former Eurovision representative for Australia and X Factor winner Isaiah Firebrace, and blues artist Buddy Knox will be among those performing in a free livestreamed Festive Fraser Coast community concert next month.

Mayor George Seymour said the Festive Fraser Coast concert on Saturday 19 December 2020 was taking the place of the traditional large Carols by Candlelight events that were cancelled this year due to the challenges associated with running a COVID Safe event.

“It’s important we all comply with COVID-19 restrictions to stay safe, but it’s also important that the community has an opportunity to celebrate the festive season,” he said.

“Council and Fraser Coast Tourism & Events are delighted to announce that we have a star-studded line up for the Festive Fraser Coast concert, which will be a combination of live acts on stage at the Brolga Theatre and pre-recorded performances.

“The concert will include nationally renowned artists Wendy Matthews, Isaiah Firebrace and Buddy Knox along with fantastic local acts like Soul City, the Rob McKay Band, Sam Maddison and Timbre.

“Local choirs and carol singers will also feature with the program to include both carols and popular festive style music.

“There will be a limited number of tickets available to attend in person at the Brolga Theatre while unlimited at home tickets will be available to access a free live stream.

“Council is also working with FCTE to livestream the Festive Fraser Coast concert on the big screen at Seafront Oval in Hervey Bay.”

The online live stream link will be available on www.ourfrasercoast.com.au

Free tickets to attend the concert at the Brolga Theatre will be available from 9am on Tuesday 1 December 2020 at the Box Office or by calling 4122 6060.

Free tickets to attend Seafront Oval will be available at www.frasercoasttickets.com.au from 9am on Tuesday 1 December.

Fraser Coast carols events can attract between 3000 and 8000 people each year but, due to COVID-19 restrictions, these numbers would not have been allowed this year.

The annual New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Brolga Theatre on the Riverstage lawn are also being cancelled due to the challenges associated with planning and delivering a COVID Safe event.
