Council steps into help community and sporting groups
Fraser Coast Regional Council will step in to help community groups and sporting clubs which have had events cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Council is working on the guidelines and application process for the Coronavirus Support Program under which eligible groups will be able to apply for up to $10,000 to cover some of the out of pocket expenses as a result of cancelling events due to imposed bans.
The expenses covered include costs which may not be covered by other sources - including insurance claims or federal and state assistance packages.
Council will also refund event application fees for organised events that have been cancelled.
It is anticipated that the guidelines and application for will be available from the Council grants page from Monday, March 30.
The program is intended to:
- Assist eligible community and sporting organisations adversely affected by the Coronavirus restrictions
- Provide support to eligible community and sporting organisations that have cancelled events and programs resulting from the Coronavirus restrictions
- The maximum grant available per application is $10,000.
Organisations will need to show:
- Evidence of the cancellation of an event, activity or project -
- where the event, activity or project cannot be carried forward to a later date;
- where costs have been incurred as at Friday 20 March 2020;
- Financial hardship is/will be experienced by the organisation, and;
- The organisation lacks the financial resources to cover the costs already incurred.
Note:
- No applicant can be guaranteed funding nor can an applicant be guaranteed funding of the full amount requested;
- Applicants should consider these limitations when preparing their request for assistance;
- Applications for amounts under the maximum limit will provide for a maximum number of organisations to be supported with Council's limited resources, and;
- Applicants will need to provide evidence that other financial support sources are not available (including insurance claims or Federal and State assistance packages).
