Pest Plants

A number of declared pest plant species, as found in the Biosecurity Act Qld 2014, are known to exist on the Fraser Coast. A list of these species, required controls and corresponding fact sheets may be found in Council’s Biosecurity Plan listed below.

Council also lists seven pest plant species as declared under Council’s local laws for the Fraser Coast region with an additional seven species listed specifically for K’gari only. Fact sheets for local law declared species may be found at the bottom of this page.

Local Law declared species information, restrictions and required controls may be found in Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environment Management) 2011 and Subordinate Local Law No. 3 (Community and Environment Management) 2011.

All landowners/managers are required to take all reasonable and practical measures to minimise the biosecurity risks associated with invasive and declared plant species under their control.

The sale, introduction or propagation of invasive and declared pest plant species is strictly prohibited.
